Coincidence

I had Veteran’s Day off last week and planned on going to the Japanese Garden for I heard it was free that day.  I ran some errands in the morning and then looked up the hours while I was eating lunch.  Closes at 4 – damn.  I finished eating and quickly left for the train ride can take at least 30 minutes to get there. Forest Park

About a month ago Steve and I went hiking through Forest Park which is located on a hill on the west side of town.  It was raining a lot in the morning but by the time we got to the park it had stopped and left it nice and wet and cool.  We did not see a lot of people so it looks like it also kept people away. I have not had a chance to get back there yet, but am looking forward to going back. Continue reading Forest Park

2 for the price of 1

Last Friday, Annie, her 2 yellow labs and I went hiking at Enchanted Rock.  Overall, it was a great day to be out there and we hiked up the lesser traveled hill on the left so we felt like we were there by ourselves.  We got up to the top and were able to watch most of the sunset before we started coming back down.  This is when the trouble occurred.

Lost Maples

While my mom was here, Linda took us to a state park called Lost Maples. As you might have guessed, there are a lot of maple trees. Linda said that she tried to go there once in the Fall when the leaves were changing colors but the park was closed because there were so many people in it.

Enchanted Rock

While my mom was here, Linda took us to a state park called Enchanted Rock for a hike, which was about an hours drive away.  There are several trails and we decided to take the summit trail directly to the top.  Once you got on the ‘rock’, there was no trail.  It was just a bare rock face that you had to walk up to get to the top.  This part was fairly steep and we saw a few ladies trying to manage the hike in flip flops or platform sandals.
