35

Yesterday I made my first attempt at packing with my new pack.  It took me two attempts to get everything into the pack that I wanted to bring.  Then I put it on.  Yeah, that seems a bit too heavy.  I wonder if it is over the 50 pound check-baggage limit.  One way to find out – to work I must go!

Checking it twice

I have made a list of what I have to get/do before I leave and have already accomplished some stuff.  Today I got a travel book and a Georgian language book.  The language is going to be pretty interesting to learn and I am glad that the book came with audio CDs to help me hear what it is supposed to sound like.

What language do they speak?

I have been asked this many times so I thought that I should answer for others.  A lot do speak Russian, but Georgians speak Georgian.  Georgian has its own unique alphabet and one is of the oldest languages.  I am about to order a language book so I can try and have some of the basics down by the time I get there.  Wish me luck!

Why?

You may be wondering why I picked this position.  There are several reasons. Continue reading Why?

Another year, another location

It is that time of year again. Time for me, and my short attention span, to find something new to do. As I mentioned before, I have been looking for jobs but have not had any luck yet.  For a while it looked like I was going to get a limited duration contract for my current job, but that fell through after 9% state budget cuts.  I have been looking all over the country and also all over the world with groups like the UN.  Well, as of last Monday, my hunt is over.  I have a job and it starts at the end of August.  Yeah!

Quote of the Day

I can feel that all the way over here.

Jen said this morning after my blackberry vibrated on the table from receiving an email.  We were currently on a conference call, the phone was not on mute and the person that was talking on the other end made a slight pause.  We quickly put the phone on mute and had a great laugh.

Thought of the Day
