Moving

Yep, you understand correctly. I am moving.

As I am leaving school today, I get called back into the director’s office along with Kate and another teacher. They talk amongst themselves for about 10 minutes before a word is said to me. I move around every now and then just to make sure that they know I am there.

I was told that Demiko is sick and he is going to Tbilisi. He had a cough this morning, but was it that bad? Then I am told that he is sick like Susie, another volunteer. This means that he has asthma. Ok. So what should follow this statement? I am to move into the director’s house.

WTF?!?!?

Man, the language barrier is truly a barrier at this point.

It takes more questioning to figure out that my host family is moving to Tbilisi due to Demiko’s asthma because the doctor told his family that the air is better there. I call TLG and let them talk to Kate and the director, Bondo. TLG asks me if I am ok with this. Well, hell if I know. I barely understand what is going on. As I leave, I am told that Bondo is picking me up tonight. Seriously? This is all going down tonight?

I come home and ask Demiko what is going on. It takes a while but I finally understand the story of his breathing problems. I do not really get an idea of when his family is moving. Maybe a month or so. I think they still need to find a place to live and a job.

So I would say that if you were planning on sending me a package you should wait. I have no idea if this is a temporary situation or permanent.

Bummer! That really stinks if you have to move after settling in and making connections with your host family. Hang in there and I hope everything works out OK.

What an adventure! It will be ok – embrace the chaos, otherwise you may go a little crazy. Hang in there – we are all cheering for you :)
