More information is starting to trickle in. First, I will not find out exactly where I am going or whom I am staying with until I get there. Second, there is still no ticket and I may now be leaving anytime between the 28th and 30th. Now on to other random stuff:
- I will be working 30 hours a week
- The classroom setting will be a team-teaching environment between the local teachers and the foreign teachers
- All schools are K-12. Depending on the school I get assigned to, I could be working with one grade the entire time or switch between grades everyday.
- I now have a list of all of Georgia’s official holidays – I will post these later
- Foreigners that belong to a minority group may be stared and pointed at due to the locals not seeing someone like that before – pretty similar to China
- Georgians will ask you about your religious affiliation and want to learn about your beliefs. The country is predominately Christian Orthodox.
- I will be getting a cell phone! I wonder how much international texting costs.
- Most schools will have internet access
- “Please be prepared for media attention upon arrival to Georgia at the airport.” Well, this is going to be interesting. I guess I will need to figure out which side is my best side.
