I did it!

For my b-day I bought a new battery for my 3rd gen ipod.  I got the ipod in 2003 and this is the second battery replacement.  The first replacement I sent off to a place in California to have them replace it for me.  This time, I figured I would give it a shot since it is a miracle that the damn thing is still running.

I got the battery about a couple weeks ago and it is has been staring at me every since.  Taunting me.  Laughing at me.  Finally, I decided that today was the day that I was going to show it who was boss.  I open the package and looked at the instructions.  Written in English, but clearly not by someone whose first language was English and who did not have a care for formatting.  Hmm.  Let’s look for some how-to videos online.

It took me a few minutes to get the plastic tool to finally break the seal and start to pry open the case.  I open the case and realize how dirty it is inside.  Doing this on top of my bed was not a great idea.  I get the hard drive off and take the battery out.  Sweet, that was easy!

I put the new battery in and then struggle for a few second trying to reconnect the hard drive connector. I finally get it.  I then decide to try and scrape some of the gunk off of the case.  Yeah, more dirt on my bed!  My mom would be so proud.  I finally put the top and bottom halves together and snap, all done.

Moment of truth.  I press the power button and it turns on.  As said in a smooth, low 70s bass voice: oh yeah!
