30 years

30 years ago today Mount St. Helens woke up. Here is a video from NASA showing a time lapse of the area from 1979 to 2009. I had to watch it a few times to see how the vegetation has grown back.

Play Again

Last night I went to a pre-release screening of a documentary called Play Again. The movie follows a handful of early teenagers as they learn how to live in the outdoors (e.g., go camping) and then try to go on a media fast when they get home. Hmmmm, odd

I have met at least 5 people from Detroit that now live in Portland. It just seems interesting that of all the people that I could meet, so many are from one metro city area.

Classics

I have been trying to watch older movies lately. So far I have watched The Great Escape, Gandhi and Kundun. I have Lawrence of Arabia, Enter the Dragon, A Bridge Too Far and the original Italian Job in queue. Anyone have suggestions on other movies?

First

Today was the first day I wore shorts all day long. We went and played kickball and four square at the park and it was a lovely sunny day of maybe about 65-70 degrees. I guess I can handle more days like today.

Update on the car

As I mentioned before, my car got into a little hit and run when someone backed into it while pulling out of the parking spot. Since then, the car has gotten fixed and it was actually a pretty smooth process. Continue reading Update on the car
