This past weekend my dad, his wife Carolyn and my aunt Judy came out for a visit. I enticed them, well my dad mostly, to come out for ASU was playing at Oregon.

Judy and I at Latourell Falls
They got here Friday and we drove out into the Columbia Gorge so they could see some fall colors and a few waterfalls. I think we ended up visiting 4 waterfalls and I am sure Carolyn got some good pictures. We then came back to town and got them checked into their rooms at the Kennedy School. This used to be a middle school but is now a hotel, restaurant, bar and movie theater. The hotel rooms are in the old class rooms and it is a pretty cool place. Friday night we took Judy to Powell’s Books for she has never been there. She was very good and only bought about 7 books.
Saturday was game day in Eugene, but the game was not until 7:30pm, so we took the scenic way down and hit a few wineries. My dad and Carolyn have done this before so we hit some that they have been to before and some that they haven’t. Judy was not much of a wine drinker so she asked a lot of questions and learned what she likes and doesn’t like.
When we got to the game it was 42 degrees. Yeah! We knew it was going to be cold and came prepared with lots of clothing, a blanket for our legs and towels to sit on so we are not sitting on the cold metal benches, which turned out to be plastic. We sat in the visitor section with about 50-75 other ASU fans. The rest of the 54,000 people there were all Duck fans.

Dad and I at the ASU vs. Oregon game
Sadly, ASU was no match for Oregon. Oregon scored easy touchdowns on the first 2 drives while ASU could not move the ball. When ASU finally got a first down, all of the ASU fans jumped and cheered. We knew it was going to be a long night and this could be one of our few chances to cheer. By halftime it was 31-7 and we decided it would be better to listen to the rest of the game in the warm car on the radio then continue to sit there, so we headed home.
On Sunday, we went to the Saturday Market downtown and then went to a bar next to my place to get some food and play a game of shuffleboard while waiting for the time to go to the airport. I must say that shuffleboard is not as easy as it looks.
I had a great weekend and was glad that they made it up.
