This weekend, Steve, Sharon (another VISTA who works with Steve) and I went hiking in the Columbia Gorge area at a place called Oneonta Gorge.
I should back up a bit before I go on. Last week I attended the AmeriCorps Kickoff event at PSU where the lunch speaker was William L. Sullivan, an author that has written over ten books about Oregon, mostly hiking, including a book about his 1000 mile trek across the state. He talked about places to go see in the state and was a pretty good speaker. He was selling his older books for cheap so I picked one up and started looking for places to go. That is how I found this hike.
You will quickly learn from these pictures and the ones I took on my previous trips into the Columbia Gorge that there are a lot of waterfalls. I think we saw four on this hike. Overall, we went about 4.5 miles and had a good time.
When you look at the photos below you will notice one picture that seems not to belong, but, in actuality, it does because we found this while we were behind Ponytail Falls. Yeah, it freaked us out at first too for it was hidden behind a rock. Damn alien baby!
