Last Friday, Annie, her 2 yellow labs and I went hiking at Enchanted Rock.  Overall, it was a great day to be out there and we hiked up the lesser traveled hill on the left so we felt like we were there by ourselves.  We got up to the top and were able to watch most of the sunset before we started coming back down.  This is when the trouble occurred.

We were getting close to the bottom and I jumped down a boulder a couple feet high.  Unfortunately, the ground that I jumpred onto was strewn with loose gravel and my feet gave way.  Instead of sliding out in front of me, which would have been preferred, my feet twisted inward and both ankles smacked the ground.  I immediately had a vision of broken feet and kept my eyes closed hoping not to see that.  Eventually, I took a deep breath, opened my eyes and was relieved that my feet were still in the same place that they were supposed to be, just in pain.  After giving Annie the lead I was holding, I stood up and realized that I just sprained my ankles.  Yes, both of them.

They hurt, but I was able to finish the hike at a nice slow pace.  There was no bruising and very little, if at all, swelling.  Almost a week later, the outside of my ankles are still soar when I touch them.  I am fine with walking, but any kind of side to side or twisting motion still hurts a bit.
