Well, it took a few months, but I finally did it. I finished searching the entire ranch for poke salad annie and digging the darn things out! Up and down, back and forth, for 40 acres (about 2 football fields wide by 3 football fields long). There are now nice piles of this weed throughout the property. Now we just have to stay vigilant during the spring to keep a watch for any new growth and dig it up right away.
Up next, cedar trees. Linda does not like cedars on the property for they take up water and cover ground that grass could be growing on, which is needed for the deer. During my searches for poke salad annie, I found numerous cedar bushes and even about 20 cedar trees over 15 feet tall. Linda thought she had no big cedars on the property. Nope! The nice part is that I will get to play with the chainsaw again – yeah!
