There is a town just outside of San Antonio that is spelled Boerne. Now how do you think that is pronounced? My guess would have been something like ‘bourne’ or ‘börn’. What do you think?

It is pronounced ‘bernie’.
I wonder if this is one of those names that got messed up when they immigrated to the country…
