You may be wondering what I have been doing since I got back from Costa Rica. Well, looking back on it, I wonder what I did, too. First off, I am in no immediate danger. It is the side effects of Ike that will most likely pose problems for me. Harper, the town I am staying in, is about 100 miles north of San Antonio and 100 miles west of Austin. Basically, smack in the middle of the state. Ike looks [...] On the day that I was going to plant my last tree, I decided to take the Flat Stanleys with me so I can take pictures of them digging the whole, being burried in the whole, etc. Well after doing some work, I went to get them and realized that Anya was missing. Uhh, did the deer eat her when I left for a bit? Did the wind blow her away? Did she even make the trip or is she still in my place? So I have been here for almost 4 weeks and you may be wondering what I have been up to. Well, hopefully the following will be able to satisfy your thirst for knowledge. When I have been walking around the ranch, grasshoppers will jump out of the way of my feet and, in the process, jump into a wall or something hard and fall to the ground. I wonder, do they knock themselves out or are they even stunned? Or do they hide on the ground, embarrassed, [...] In case you ever wondered, a praying mantis can stay on the hood of a car up to 45 mph. Here are some photos of the ranch (or view the photos here): The slideshow will not work for your browser, but you can also view the photos here. ps – you can also view all of my pictures by clicking on the ‘All Photos’ menu item at the top of the [...] Thought I would give you an idea of what life on the ranch is like here. The ranch is just under 40 acres and Linda has lived here for about 24 years. They have had various animals on their land over the years and right now she has about a mix of 20 deer and antelope, 3 cats, various unwanted raccoons (they eat her gardens items), 3 ducks (used to be 12 until a fox came), me, gnats, grasshoppers and supposedly 4 different venomous snakes. I will consider myself a very happy person if I do not come across any by the time I leave. |
