While my mom was here, Linda took us to a state park called Lost Maples. As you might have guessed, there are a lot of maple trees. Linda said that she tried to go there once in the Fall when the leaves were changing colors but the park was closed because there were so many people in it.
We ended up taking the loop trail that follows a stream bed that was mostly dry. At one point there was an outcropping of rock over the stream bed that was dripping water down and had several little stalactites hanging down. I didn’t know that they could grow outside of caves.
In the middle of the trail, we had to climb up a hill that was steep – even the trail map said that it was steep! When we got to the top, we took a much deserved break and ate lunch. On the way down we came across a good size pond that had lots of fish in it that I know Tony would have liked.
To me, the best part was driving home. We went a different way home that took us on a cool curvy, hilly road that eventually took us north into a little town called Leaky. The weather was overcast with a little drizzle here and there and I had a great time driving the roads. I do not know if my mom or Linda liked my driving, but I was having fun!
Here are some photos from the hike (or view the photos here):
