Finally Found Myself

Saturday, 26 January

I have been home for almost 3 weeks and I have been struggling to maintain a balance between the old me (pre-costa rica) and the me that was developed while in costa rica. Some of it is stuff like having to drive to go somewhere since the city is built out instead of up. It wouldn’t be so bad if there was huge public transportation system like city taxis and buses. Actually, the bus routes are pretty decent here, but where I am staying I would have to walk about two to three miles to catch a bus. I actually like not having a car, but just wish I did not need one to get around.

Perfect Beach Day

Sunday, 6 January

At breakfast, Zetdi told Meleidy about the prostitute from the bar. Meleidy asked Leo if he got one too and something along the lines of being with her for an hour. Zetdi then chimed in saying that I was only with mine for 10 minutes. Thanks. I was too stunned to come back with a comment like 10 minutes would have been a new record for me, so instead I just sat there and laughed. Today, the students were heading off to do a canopy tour. Zetdi was going to go to the park after she rested a little bit and I was thinking about going to try and find a different beach that I had heard of. I changed my mind and ended up going with Zetdi to the park. We went to the grocery store to get some snacks and items for lunch and then took the bus to the beach. Zetdi told a student last night that she would look for her so we did a quick search and did not find her so we headed into the park.

Babysitting

Saturday, 5 January

At breakfast, Zetdi and I told the new students some helpful tips about the home and the town. They went as a group to the beach today so they took off around 9:30. Apparently, there are 14 other students from their school in indiana here as part of a study abroad program and they get 4 credit hours for the two weeks they will be here. I asked Meleidy more about the DHL package and told her that my mom did not send anything. The package was addressed to Meleidy, not me, and came from phoenix but requires $20 to get the package. Since she has no idea what the package is, she decided to just forget about it.

Catching Up

Tuesday-Friday, 1-4 January

I have not been writing lately because I just have not felt like it. I have been doing pretty much the same thing everyday, so it has not been worth writing about. Wake-up, breakfast, go to internet cafe to look for job, bang my head against the wall, eat, look some more, try not to scream, eat, go to sleep.
