Observations from Quepos
- bathrooms are western style but Quepos does not have good plumbing so we cannot put TP down the toilet – just like China
- they love their fireworks here. They set them off throughout the night and where ever they want to (middle of street)
- there is no EPA and the car/bus exhaust really gets to you after awhile
- I have been told not to swim in the waters off Quepos for the sewage supposedly dumps right into the water. Instead, we should go to Manuel Antonio.
- City buses are pretty good and cheap, but very crowded (sorry, have not seen chickens on the bus yet)
- for the most part, the people here dress just like americans – for some reason I got the impression that it wold be more ‘conservative’
- just because it is an internet cafe does not mean the internet connection will work
- power and water loss are a common occurrence
- lots of stray dogs
- sidewalks do not need to be at consistent heights or be reachable from the road
