On the 23rd of November, I will be leaving Arizona and moving to Costa Rica to attend a school to get certified to teach english as a foreign language (TEFL). The course lasts 4 weeks and includes help looking for a job.
Answers to the questions I have been asked a lot
Why do you want to leave?
- I cannot stand sitting in a cubicle and working on a computer all day long anymore
- ASU is becoming a corporation and killing the laid back academic atmosphere that used to exist
- I need to get a job that does not require me to be on the computer all day – my wrists are so shot and I am hoping that being off the computer will help my wrists heal
- I want to experience how other cultures live their lives and how they view americans
- I want to contribute and help other cultures
- I want to start a new career, but do not want to go back and get another degree
- I do not want to wait until retirement to travel and see the world. For all I know I will not live that long so why wait?
Why Costa Rica?
- Why not?
- Had friends and family members that have been there and liked it
- Costa Rica has no military, just a national guard
- Costa Rica puts more money into education – they have a 95% literacy rate
- Government is fairly liberal and stable
- They have a lot of conservation programs that I would like to get involved with
Where in Costa Rica?
The school is located in Quepos, Puntarenas Costa Rica which is on the Pacific side of Costa Rica close to the middle of the country. I found a web page that has decent maps, weather and rain info in case you are interested.
Fantastic plans… wishing you joy, health and contentment… Who knows, may come and visit you… Travel Friendly and stay in touch.D*

I’ve been thinking of you and your move a lot since the time is getting near. Your reasons are very good ones, and I hope you are successful in your adventure. Better start studying Spanish.
If not now, when? GO for it!
Disance doesn’t matter, you are always in OUR thoughts & hearts.
Good luck. If you need any help or information, the owner of one of my trust company licensees in Tucson is from Costa Rica and she is an official consulate. Enjoy your exploration.
Hey! Like the layout – especially the photos.
the move will be great! I am looking forward to hearing more when you get there!!!
Jason…another adventure. How awesome! You will do well without a doubt. Let us know if you need anything. As you know, life changes such as this can bring huge revelations and character growth. Not many people are brave enough to try. Bon Voyage! Stay safe!

Jason, I am so glad you doing now rather than later! How I envy you–But I do like what we are doing as well. We get the best of two worlds even if they are both in country.
Good luck and let us hear from you!
