1+1

On Friday night we went out to eat to a place the others described as ‘hot pot’. Basically, in the center of your table there are two tubs of broth at a boil and you stick meat or veggies into it to cook it and then you eat it. Some of the others in my room did not like it, but I was having a grand ‘ol time. It may be that they were eating meat and did not trust it while I was just eating veggies. Oh, and the room was nice enough to segregate the meat tubs of broth from the veggie tubs.

Afterwards, a large group of us went to a club called 1+1. This place was awesome. There were two different buildings: one for dancing and the other had little bar tables everywhere for drinking and listening to music. The one for dancing was 5 stories with the main dance floor on the ground. The rest of the floors seemed to have tables and rooms were you can have a group of people together. Between the two buildings was an open air area where you can cool off, have a drink and watch the water flow in the pond. Unfortunately, we did not get any pictures because there were security guards everywhere and they would not let us.

Some of the highlights:

  • No cover charge
  • Ring went with us (remember he is 16). This was his first time at a club and he was walking around with his fingers in his ears. This was quite amusing. At one point a very drunk guy started to dance with everyone in our group by holding our hands and basically doing the twist. He did not leave Ring out and Ring did not look very comfortable. After a little while I sent him home in a taxi for he wasn’t having that much fun.
  • One guy from the group that included the drunk dancing guy was very friendly and was giving us free drinks
  • We met some foreigners from europe that were here for 6 months for hotel management training.
  • very cute chinese girls – this is always a highlight!
  • And last but not least is Mike. This is not necessarily a highlight, but more like a major event of the evening. Basically, he got waisted and we had to carry him outside to the little pond area. The security guards followed and after about 10 minutes of no improvement, the security guards told us we had to take him out of the club. This would have been easy except for two things: 1) he is 6’7″ and was not able to move 2) we had to go up an elevator and then down stairs to get out. We ended up draping mike over liangs back and 3 security guards flanked each side. One had to hold mike’s pants up so they would not fall off. Needless to say we got home and threw him on his bed.
